Maureen M. Villadelgado

Maureen focuses her practice on estate planning, estate settlement, and trust administration.

She works closely with individuals, couples, and families to develop and implement comprehensive estate plans that are tailored to achieve their personal estate planning goals. She advises clients on how to minimize estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes, preserve and protect assets, and minimize probate. She also advises clients on advanced estate planning strategies that may be appropriate given their situation and goals, such as lifetime gifts to irrevocable trusts to help reduce their taxable estates and provide for future generations. In guiding clients through the various decisions to be made with respect to their estate plans, Maureen explains the relevant legal, tax, and non-tax issues in a way that is informative yet easy to understand.

In addition, Maureen has extensive experience assisting clients through all stages of the estate settlement process, from the opening of probate to the filing of any required estate tax returns to the final distribution of assets and funding of trusts for beneficiaries. She also counsels clients on the administration of ongoing trusts. Maureen also serves as a Trustee and a Personal Representative in the appropriate situations.

Maureen aims to be a trusted advisor to clients and to build long-lasting relationships with clients and their families. She believes strongly in the value of a team approach to estate planning and welcomes collaboration with a client’s other advisors (such as an investment advisor, CPA, or insurance professional) when needed to help ensure that her client’s goals can be achieved in the most comprehensive and efficient way.

Prior to joining Gilmore Rees & Carlson in 2024, Maureen was a partner at a boutique trusts and estates firm in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where she practiced for over 16 years.
